How do I buy Verdure?
Secure online orders may be placed through this website or via phone as above. Please check our "Where to Buy" link to find the growing list of Verdure distributors which include doctor's offices, retail, internet stores and spas.
How much is Sales Tax?
Sales tax is charged only to California residents, the rate is based on the billing address.
PRODUCTS FAQ
Are the products organic?
No. At this time, our products do not contain certified organic ingredients. The reason for this is quality assurance. The organic aspect of skin care is evolving and ingredients can be inconsistent in quality and availability. In the future, we hope to include these ingredients in our products.
What do you mean by natural?
"Natural" can be a loaded term. What we mean by natural is that we use ingredients derived from mainly plant or marine sources. We have included ingredients that have some scientific evidence of efficacy. Some of our products do include synthetic ingredients, however, we made a special effort to keep them at a minimum. This is to maintain formulas that go on evenly and well. Have you ever tried 100% natural products? They are often sticky, smelly or do not have a good shelf life. We also do not use any bovine (cow)-derived ingredients. We are just as concerned about toxicity of ingredients as you are, and we scrutinize every ingredient included in our line.
Are they vegan?
Yes and we do not test on animals!
Are the products hypoallergenic?
Yes. Our products have been tested with the Repeat Insult Patch Test, which is an industry standard for allergenicity and irritation. All have passed. There is no such thing as a 100% allergy-free product and there may be certain ingredients, though few, that can cause allergy. We have carefully developed these products with dermatologic expertise and have minimized allergy and irritant potential
Are the products oil-free, fragrance-free?
All products are non-comedogenic. All products are oil-free, except: Rejuvenating Masque Peel, which has a small amount of Jojoba seed oil and natural fatty acids extracted from barley and amur corktree bark; Gentle Glycolic Cleanser, which has a small amount of essential grapefruit oil. All products are fragrance-free except Gentle Glycolic Cleanser. Overnight Repair Serum has no added fragrance but the natural antioxidants give the product a very light pleasant scent.
Do you have a moisturizer or eye cream?
Overnight Repair Serum has moisturizers in them. Overnight Repair Serum can be used around the eyes as long as one stays along the orbital rim (the bony socket) along the bottom and sides of the eyes (this is usually one fingerbreadth away from the eyelid margin). Do not apply this product to the upper eyelids.
What are alpha-hydroxy acids? Glycolic acids? Beta-hydroxy acid?
Alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA's) are derived from natural sources which have benefits for the skin. Glycolic acid (derived from sugar cane), lactic acid (from milk), citric acid (from citrus fruits) are examples.
AHA's have been shown to gently exfoliate skin, lighten pigmentation, improve skin texture and tone and stimulate collagen production. They improve acne through exfoliation and have anti-bacterial properties. AHA's are sold over-the-counter in 10% or less concentrations. Verdure products are in the 5 to 6% range suitable for more sensitive skin.
Beta-hydroxy acid (BHA's) include salicylic acid. It is a common ingredient in acne-fighting products at a level of 1 to 2% because it is an effective exfoliant. Unfortunately, it can exfoliate so much that it can make the skin scaly and flaky. For this reason, we only include it in the masque peel at a low concentration 0.5% to minimize this effect.
Can I use these products if I get sun exposure?
Yes. We include the recommended FDA warning label on our product cartons. In reality, most people do not show increased burning tendencies when using AHA's even in much higher concentrations. Sun protection is always advised with or without use of AHA's and patients with increased burning tendencies should always use sun protective measures.
Can I use these products if I am trying to get pregnant or pregnant?
At this time, there is no evidence that AHA's in over-the-counter strengths are dangerous in patients trying to get pregnant or pregnant. Nonetheless, conservative use of the products is advised, as well as speaking with your physician regarding their use.
Is your packaging recyclable?
Yes. The tubes are made of a recyclable plastic called HDPE, and all components of all products can be recycled. Our company brochures are printed on 20% recycled paper and other literature is printed on 50% recycled paper. Verdure reuses almost all of the packaging it receives. For instance, if you buy a product from us, we will ship it in a reused cardboard box and reused foam or recyclable paper packing.
Are the plastics safe?
Yes. HDPE is considered to be one of the most inert plastics and does not contain bisphenol A (BPA).
Where are the products manufactured?
Verdure Botanoceuticals skin care is manufactured in the U.S. at an FDA-approved, world-class manufacturing facility. All ingredients are EU and Japan-compliant. The tubes are made in the U.S. at another top-notch manufacturer and the glass bottles are Italian. Unit cartons are printed in California.
